Bio

At The Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering, I am a graduate school thesis-project mentor & advisor, instructor, researcher, and professor in the Systems Engineering, Healthcare Systems Engineering, and Lifelong Learning programs. In this capacity, I research novel applications of systems approaches, shape and impact industry, government, and academia with adaptable systems problem solving, and mentor those eager to apply systems thinking techniques to new missions and domains. Through this I have been a recipient of the JHU Outstanding Instructor Award for excellence and dedication. For 35 years I was also a principal chief engineer, customer Technical Direction Agent (TDA), and executive portfolio/technical director at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. In these roles I was responsible for the strategic and technical direction of numerous multi-million-dollar organizational areas, staff teams, and systems impacting national security, health, and homeland protection, earning several letters of commendation and awards from JHU and sponsoring agencies. Academically, I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in engineering physics & mathematics from Colorado State University, Master’s of Science in applied mathematics and systems engineering from The Johns Hopkins University, a Master’s of Business Administration from Loyola University of Maryland, a Master’s of Public Health from Dartmouth College, and a Doctorate of Engineering in Systems Engineering & Operations Research from The George Washington University.
