Über den Kurs

Machine learning is the science of getting computers to act without being explicitly programmed. In the past decade, machine learning has given us self-driving cars, practical speech recognition, effective web search, and a vastly improved understanding of the human genome. Machine learning is so pervasive today that you probably use it dozens of times a day without knowing it. Many researchers also think it is the best way to make progress towards human-level AI. In this class, you will learn about the most effective machine learning techniques, and gain practice implementing them and getting them to work for yourself. More importantly, you'll learn about not only the theoretical underpinnings of learning, but also gain the practical know-how needed to quickly and powerfully apply these techniques to new problems. Finally, you'll learn about some of Silicon Valley's best practices in innovation as it pertains to machine learning and AI. This course provides a broad introduction to machine learning, datamining, and statistical pattern recognition. Topics include: (i) Supervised learning (parametric/non-parametric algorithms, support vector machines, kernels, neural networks). (ii) Unsupervised learning (clustering, dimensionality reduction, recommender systems, deep learning). (iii) Best practices in machine learning (bias/variance theory; innovation process in machine learning and AI). The course will also draw from numerous case studies and applications, so that you'll also learn how to apply learning algorithms to building smart robots (perception, control), text understanding (web search, anti-spam), computer vision, medical informatics, audio, database mining, and other areas....

My first and the most beautiful course on Machine learning. To all those thinking of getting in ML, Start you learning with the must-have course. Thanks Andrew Ng and Coursera for this amazing course.

good course; just 2 suggestions: improve the skew data part (week 6) and furnish the formula to evaluate the number of iteration in the window from image dimension, window dimension and step (week 11)

Very good introduction to Machine Learning. Easy and down to earth for first-time learner but probably not math-heavy enough for advanced learner.

Great Class! I hope you can develop a 2nd part to this course that goes more into the theory and advanced concepts of machine learning however I'm really fortunate to have learned from you since you were able to explain everything in such a simple and accessible manner. Thank You Andrew!

Till now, the course seems to be very good and the flow is also very comfortable to follow

Sound quality could be improved in video. It kind of curbs the understanding of what the teacher is saying :/ Otherwise everything's great!

I found the assignments to be sometimes confusing (i read the description of a question, thought i was supposed to answer several steps at once, only to realise that the tasks would be broken down in muc more detail later). Once i figured out the style, it was much easier, and i would be sure to read entire assignment first. Additionally, i sometimes didnt know whether errata notes were relevant to the code i was actually using, or previous offerings of the same course.

Overall though, very good! Thanks!

Nice beginner level course. Shows the big picture without dwelling much into nitty-gritty. Basic knowledge of Linear Algebra would not hurt but that's not necessary. Needless to say, Prof Andrew's teachings/advices were fabulous during the course. Programming assignments were mostly trivial. They can be made a bit challenging. Thanks.

So far I have liked this course. Ng is awesome. I can now understand why this course is considered as one of the best courses to learn Machine learning. I will revisit my review once I complete the entire course. I hope I will add another star to my rating.

This is a quite good introductory course on Machine Learning. Dr. Ng explains decent maths and CS knwoledge in a simple way.

It is excellent for new learner without strong maths background. But for learner with better maths background I would like to suggest to take more deeper courses.

Plus for practical tips. A bit too little focus on the mathematics. Minus for slightly buggy lecture videos.

Needs better introductions to the quizzes in the videos and then maybe cover the answers afterwards.

Thank you Mr. Ng.

The course is very much informative and helpful in learning machine learning.

Your teaching style is also such that it is easily understandable by beginners.

Again Thank you for creating such informative and helpful course, looking forward to learn more courses on deeplearning.ai and will be waiting for any new courses by you.

Very good to learn the basics and to get a good start in machine learning. I missed in-depth comprehension in mathematics but that's ok.

Phenomenal content - Outdated material. However, Andrew Ng's genius makes this course extremely worthwhile.

Very good course to start on machine learning. At some places it skips details, but I think that is ok for beginners. I enjoyed the class a lot.

I think assignments have lots of boilerplate code ready. It makes assignments very easy. Assignments should be more challenging.

A good class. I kept 1 star for the future in case I am having had a better class.

Very good course. It overviews the main machine learning systems in both ways, theoretical and practical.

Maybe it lacks of a final project, but is one of the limitations of these kind of online courses.

Great introductory course to the field of machine learning.

At the same time, if you already have some strong knowledge of linear algebra and/or probability theory, I would like to recommend the other version of this course (also thought by Andrew Ng), which is more advanced and can be found for free here https://see.stanford.edu/Course/CS229
