About the Course

In this course, we explore how mainstream understandings of animals and human-animal relationships have changed in recent years. Module 1 focuses on the roles of animals in human physical health and psychological well being. Module 2 explores animal selfhood, particularly in light of their inability to use spoken language. Finally, Module 3 examines some of the collective efforts undertaken when the treatment or use of animals comes to be seen as inhumane, immoral, and worthy of ameliorative social action....

This class sheds a light on research, data and history of a discipline not central enough as it should be. Thank you

Course is excellent, but cannot be completed until upgrade to certificate. I signed up as "audit". Won't allow for completion w/o paying for certificate. Is not free course as stated.

This course is educational and informative.🐾💜🎓

The need for humane Animal care and Animal rights education in public schools is necessary and invaluable. Courses like this one should be an essential part of our educational system worldwide. This is the only way we are going to stop the barbaric torture and killing of Billions of innocent Animals worldwide.

We are the people who must change the definition of FOOD; that living beings are not to be tortured , killed, eaten , worn, and exploited for any reason. Animals are to be cared for , nurtured and cherished.

Thank you to the instructor for her wonderful insightful presentation, and Coursera for offering this course in the program selections.

I hope to be able to participate in more VEGAN and Animal Rights courses in Coursera in the future.
