What is it to go the Cloud way? Traditionally, an organization when they need to have their applications, have their own data center infrastructure, et cetera. Whereas, when an organization consumes from a Cloud provider, they have the infrastructure already in place. When you come to Oracle Cloud, we have set up data centers globally in various regions. Thus, it enables you to use Oracle Cloud services in a region which is closest to your end-users, thus, you don't need to worry about setting up the data center, et cetera. On a click of a button, various services are available, or if you use automation by having scripts using specific automation tools that are supported, you can set up and manage services within Oracle Cloud. With this setup of using Oracle Cloud, it makes it easy for you to set up new applications or adopt new technologies within Oracle Cloud. What are the benefits of going Cloud? If you have your own data center, it's not about just the data center space that you need to bother about, you need to procure hardware, you need to procure software licenses, and people in your organization would have to set up the infrastructure, software, and applications before you can use them. Whereas, if you come to Oracle Cloud, we have different regions. Within them, some of them have multiple data centers, which means you, first of all, don't need to worry about setting up data centers. Oracle Cloud has set up infrastructure in the form of hardware and networking, etc, as well as software based on the various services that are available. Thus, when you make use of Oracle Cloud services, you click and get services in place, but more importantly, you pay only for what you use. If you have invested in your hardware in your own data-centers, whether you use it or not, the investment is already gone through. Whereas, in Oracle Cloud, if you want to have a computer provisioned and used for a certain number of days and then if you terminate it, you are no more paying for it, or if you have a need where you want to use a computer, let's say for a specific number of days based on your requirement, you can use a compute standard shape. For example, when you provision a compute standard shape, you get block storage for the operating system and data that you want to keep, plus a compute hardware in which the Compute instance runs. Whenever you don't want to use it, you just go and stop your Compute instance. The hardware for the Compute instance is no more bill, whereas you still pay for your block storage, thus, you pay for what you use, which results in significant cost reduction when you use Cloud. With the various services that are available in Oracle Cloud, it makes it easy for you to adopt new technologies, as well as setting up applications in Cloud makes it very fast. On a click of a button, you can get your infrastructure as well as software available, which makes it easy to use, which means IT in your organization becomes very agile. It makes it very fast to use technology when you come into Oracle Cloud. What are the challenges when you use Cloud? Number 1, within an organization, you might have different skills in people. Maybe there is a system administrator who manages the operating system, there is a hardware engineer who manages hardware, there are database administrators who manage databases. As a customer of Cloud, you generally don't need to worry about hardware management, but then the individuals in the organization would have to upskill into newer technologies. Maybe, the system administrator, other than just managing operating system, will also take care of provisioning storage and networking in Oracle Cloud. Or if you are a DBA, you might not only manage databases, you might manage maybe object storage and other services depending on the need. Which means you as an individual would need to learn more skills, but at the same time, with the help of automation, you will be able to manage these resources seamlessly and easily. The result of automation is very simple. You are able to manage all this, but at the same time, a little bit of investment in learning these are required. With more resources being provisioned in Cloud and used only for whatever duration, it makes it easy with automation to manage it, but at the same time, one has to be careful when using automation because if you are using the browser and clicking, you can be careful about what you are doing, which resource you are managing. Whereas, if you have a script, which is to, let's say, destroy a certain set of resources, but that is not what you intended to do, but by mistake you run the script, well, your resources would be destroyed, which you did not intend to do. Be careful when you use Automation. Thus, these are some of the benefits of going the Cloud way, as well as challenges one has to keep in mind. But overall, this summarizes the way of moving the Cloud way and how does one adopt Cloud?
