Welcome to Module 3 in our Relationship Management course. In this module, we will be covering a topic that I feel is one of the most difficult leadership subjects to master, managing conflict. As we do so, I'd like for you to look for the connections to our first two modules in this course, communication and managing power and influence. I think you'll find some interesting connections. Before we proceed, let's take a look at my leadership observation for this module. Because leadership involves people, it's inherently messy. We'll come back to that observation again at the end of the module. Now, let's take a look at the objectives for this module. First, we will want to examine the affect of conflict on the organization. Is it inherently good or bad? We'll want to focus on the types of conflict that can arise, as well as the sources. And there is a difference. We'll look at the different approaches that yo,u as a leader, can use in resolving conflict. And then finally, we will devote considerable attention to a collaborative approach to resolving conflict. How well you manage conflict will in large part determine the long-term health of your team or your organization.
