The Palo Alto Networks Cybersecurity Specialization prepares students for entry level careers in cybersecurity, with an emphasis on administering the Palo Alto Networks Next Generation Firewall. All courses also map learning objectives to the U.S. NIST/NICE framework and cybersecurity work roles.

The Specialization project requires that students demonstrate fundamental networking and skills learned in configuring the Palo Alto Networks firewall including but not limited to the following: create and analyze packet captures using Wireshark; initially configure firewall interfaces and zones; creating a firewall zero-trust environment with zones, security policies, and NAT; and decrypting SSH traffic through decryption policies.

  • When you enroll in the course, you get access to all of the courses in the Specialization, and you earn a certificate when you complete the work.   • This course is completely online, so there’s no need to show up to a classroom in person. You can access your lectures, readings and assignments anytime and anywhere via the web or your mobile device.

  • The PAN CyberSecurity Specialization is structured as an entry level to cybersecurity.

  • Yes. As you go forward in the specialization both hands-on practice as well as course discoveries are built upon previous learning elements.

  • Projects that utilize the NDG lab environment are required assignments in the Gateway and Essentials Courses. You will be able to review the course readings, videos, material and assessments but you will not be able to successfully complete the course without access to the NDG lab environment.

  • Completing the 5 course track as well as the labs will help prepare you to compete for the PCCSA certification, available through PearsonVue on-site or online proctored.   • You will be qualified for an entry level position in cybersecurity, and also have hands-on practical experience using the PAN Next Generation firewall.

  • To provide a hands-on experience with the Palo Alto Networks Next Generation Firewall, the Gateway and Essentials courses utilize a cloud based virtual lab component. The labs fees of $24.95 per month is paid directly to Network Development Group (NDG) and is not included as part of the Coursera subscription. Please refer to the “LAB SETUP START HERE: Connecting to the NDG platform and performing labs” informational resource found in the Course Information area of the Gateway and Essentials courses for specific details on enrollment and payment for NDG labs
